Facts About Automotive Manufacturing in the UK
The automotive industry in the United Kingdom is one that most people don’t know much about, but they are a dynamic, expanding industry that is currently setting their sights on breaking some manufacturing records in the next three years. Combined with multi-billion pound investments of A5.5 billion over the last eighteen months, the future will see thousands more jobs created, new models introduced, and overall production expanded. More cars being built will not only lead to more jobs in the automotive industry, but also in the industry that services cars – manufacturers of car tyres, garages for servicing cars and showrooms where the cars are sold.
The previous record for number of cars produced was set in 1972 with 1.92 million cars driving out of the UK’s factories. With annual volumes gradually increasing over the past few years they are set to hit the two million mark in 2015. In 2011 the levels were at 1.3 million, so this equates to an increase in production of over 50%. Considering the economic downturn we have been experiencing over the last few years, it is even more exciting to see a United Kingdom industry helping to lead the economic recovery.
The UK has a longstanding motoring heritage, a wealth of expertise in engineering and a flexible, skilled workforce, which combines with some major international investment to make the UK a desirable location for the global automotive industry to set up their factories. Many people aren’t even aware that there are seven volume car manufacturers, three volume commercial vehicle manufacturers, eleven manufacturers of buses and coaches, over 25 niche and specialist vehicle manufacturers and a massive eight Formula One teams along with a large concentration of motorsport firms in an area known as Motorsport Valley. Despite all this, the majority of people probably think that all vehicles are built abroad.

Moisture Sensors And Their Relevance In Critical Industrial Processes
Technology advancements are present everywhere and play an increasing important role in almost every industrial process nowadays. From machines that allow factories to attach different pieces together error free to machines that can automatically tell when a piece is bigger or smaller than the standard, technology makes industrial processes faster, more accurate and, of course, more secure for factory operators.
There are different technical devices used in industrial facilities and we are quite familiar with them even if we do not know exactly what they do or how they work because we wee them on TV documentaries and newsreels. Industry Analysis Business Plan However, many of us do not know that most industries depend on a specific and highly sensitive instrument to make sure that the product they are offering meets the quality standards established: the moisture sensor.
A moisture sensor is also usually referred to as moisture analyzer, humidity sensor or hygrometer and all these different International Competition Examples names are used to describe an instrument that is used to detect if a certain substance is too dry or too wet.
Knowing the exact degree or percentage of humidity of a given product can be vital for many industries as it may imply that the product is ready to be used or that it is totally damaged. The human and animal food industry, the wood industry, the leather industry and the pharmaceutical one are amongst the industrial businesses that need to rely on these highly sensitive devices whether it be for quality control or for the production process in itself.
Moisture sensors measure the humidity content present in a substance and then factory operators can easily retrieve and analyse that data to see if any adjustment needs to be made to the manufacturing process. In order to analyze the humidity content, a sample of the product is taken and weighed. Then it is dried out and weighed again. The difference between the initial and the final weight indicates the amount of moisture present. This can be quite a time consuming process as the drying out of the sample can take two or three hours.
There are analog and digital moisture sensors and factory owners agree on the fact that both of them are equally reliable and efficient. Analog humidity sensors are less modern than the digital ones.
Many a time, factory operators rely on these sensitive instruments to measure the humidity content in the environment so that they can be sure that it is not either too wet or too dry in order to affect the quality the manufactured product needs to have.…

CIJ Printer, Your Days Are Numbered
As a widely used technology, thermal ink jet printing has been openly accepted in the high resolution porous case coding arena. The advantage, of course is the lack of a complicated ink circulation system and replaceable print head cartridges allowing for almost zero maintenance. Thermal inkjet printers are on the verge of leaving their comfort zone as ink manufacturers sharpen their pencils and apply efforts towards developing solvent based inks for non porous substrates. Doors are beginning to open with new solvent based inks that allow these systems to throw ink that sticks and dries on non porous substrates. Printing on plastic, steel etc. is no longer an impossibility for thermal inkjet.
The front runners in the business, Hewlett Packard and Lexmark, both have firm footings in the marketplace but differ greatly. HP 51645A cartridge design allows for a more solvent friendly delivery while the Lexmark system is unable at this time to run a solvent heavy ink through its cartridge. HP’s 51645A cartridge however is unable to throw the ink more than 1/8 inch from print head to substrate. This poses a challenge with product placement in conjunction to the print Postindustrial Economy head, allowing for little wiggle room in print head placement distance from the target substrate. Lexmark has a more robust throw distance of up to 1/4 inch giving it a less claustrophobic placement towards the product to be printed on. Lexmark cartridges are designed with a set of redundant nozzles to all but eliminate the common streaking found with HP’s head when jet clogs arise. These two characteristics make Lexmark a more logical choice for printing applications.
The fact that HP has been in this market of industrial printing for a substantially longer period of time is shown by the vast amount of choices of HP based industrial printers out there in the market. Lexmark is just getting started, but I look for great things to come from the printing giant in this field. It is rumored that they are designing a cartridge specifically for solvent inks for the industrial print field. If this is so, look for major changes in the marking and coding industry to come.
Both types of printer systems come available in a wide selection of print height capabilities. Each cartridge represents one half inch of print height. There are simple economical printers for under $1000.00 to systems that can print 8 inches of print height for much more.

Light Tables For Quality Control Inspection
Anyone who performs quality control in a laboratory or industrial environment knows the importance of adequate lighting. Without the proper level of illumination, it is nearly impossible to perform quality control to expected How To Become An Electrician In Alabama standards. This could result in serious legal penalties, fines, and even a shutdown of the facility. Equipping heavy, medium, and light duty tables with illuminated table tops ensures that this will not happen.
A standard industrial table outfitted with lighting is offered with optional casters that make the workbench a mobile unit. Hydraulic lift units adjust the height of the table to accommodate seated or standing users while a hydraulic tilt unit moves the work surface to an ergonomically convertible angle. A deluxe version of this table features additional light panels that provide adequate illumination for inspection of the smallest items.
When the ultimate in mobility is needed, light duty tables are often not the solution. An inspection cart featuring a light panel, casters, and hydraulic lift makes the perfect workbench. It can be pulled around the Competitive Threat Framework facility floor as needed or used in training applications. Other optional features expand the number of potential applications for this work cart. This unit is the perfect partner for a heavy duty industrial table.
Fluorescent lighting used in lighted tables is covered by frosted glass. Consumers can specify the size of the glass area, with 12-inch multiples available for the width. A dimmable switch is included with the lighting and each fluorescent bulb is a maximum of 40 watts. Though standard sizes of light duty tables with lifting functions are available, custom dimensions can also be specified. When customizing this industrial table, a consumer can choose other features designed to meet the special needs of the user or work environment.
Light duty tables are not the only versions available with illuminated table top lighting. Most of the workbench styles offered can usually be ordered with illuminated surfaces. Whether a lab or cleanroom table is needed, consumers will not need to go without the light feature. Ordering directly from the manufacturer, allows for more flexibility in terms of final product design. Many manufacturers can build light table furniture to meet your exact specifications.
In labs where space is at a premium or where room dimensions are irregular, it is often difficult to find light duty tables and storage options that are compatible. A manufacturer has no problem designing furniture, shelving, and cabinets that will fit into tight corners or small square footage. Most of these items are delivered pre-assembled, eliminating time and frustration for the consumer. Everything arrives ready to use once it is removed from its packaging.
Ordering heavy, medium, or light duty tables with tabletop lighting, casters, hydraulic lifts, and other features is not difficult. When shopping online, consumers simply enter the height, depth, and width of the table, the width of the lighted area, and finish or colors for the frame and top. They can even view samples …
More Layoffs on the Way Into 2010 Says Obama – Stress is Taking a Toll
I talked to a couple last week who described the stress and turmoil in their lives, from a round of layoffs occurring recently at his job and now talk of a second round. He has worked for one of the largest defense contractors for eight years during an era of growth – but now uncertainty reins under a new President and reductions in defense spending. The couple both echo what’s Industrial Engineering Book causing the almost debilitating stress – the fear of the unknown. “It’s a good job and I don’t want to walk away from it. Besides, in this job market, what else is out there?” says the stressed out husband. “Not knowing is almost worse than losing your job, at least then you know where you sit.” When I asked what (they) were doing about it, I got the response “worrying a lot.”
There isn’t a “silver-bullet” to maintaining employment in a tough job market. But one thing is for certain: doing nothing isn’t going to help. Frequently we are in a status quo mindset and accept most anything an organization puts forward. But just waiting for the ax to fall is one of the dumbest things you can do!
The overused buzzword, in business and self-help books of the last decade, proactivity, is the only answer experts seem to agree on. But what is being proactive really? It’s a state of mind that says I’m not going to accept the existing state of affairs just because that’s what I’ve been given – I’m going to take control, step-by-step, of my own destiny. I’m not going to let someone else’s decision, or indecision, add stress and disorder to my life. The first step is becoming more aware of what’s going on in my supervisor’s office. What’s her perception of me? Did I learn anything from my last performance review or just go through the motions? What have I accomplished vis-à-vis the other employees? Do others think of me as a go to person – someone they can count on to get the job done? What’s going on in other departments in the company, in the Becoming An Electrician At 40, or the economy in general? We have to study industry trends. In three years, will our products still be relevant or will we be outgunned by competition? If you work for a company or industry that is losing its pertinent position, begin immediately thinking about making a change to a new job – or even a completely different industry. Be rational though. If you quit your job you won’t have much staying power to search for a new one. Use your existing employer (and their paycheck) while you seek your new position. But don’t give your current employer a reason to put you on the next layoff list. Make sure you give maximum effort to your current company during this process. Make the change on your time frame not theirs.
Let’s look at the example of the …
